With the CLS created Mercedes-Benz a new niche: the four-door coupe. We are now already in the second generation of CLS arrived, but the first version smoelt still very delicious.
Technically, the CLS (W219) based on the Mercedes-Benz E-class W211, but the CLS is only available with the thicker six – and achtcilinder engines. In addition, the reliability of the CLS to be greater than that of the W211 E-class, the first teething problems of the E-class beat the CLS.
In 2008, however, the CLS is getting a facelift and there were a number of new engines. The sweets of the CLS range are of course the AMG versions: the CLS 55 AMG with V8 compressor engine and the CLS 63 AMG with the beautiful 6,2 litre atmospheric engine. The big advantage of these engines is that you very quickly zegeltjes can save at your favorite gas station.

- The automatic gearboxes (including de7G-tronic bowl) with correct maintenance is fairly reliable, but oil change/ flush in case of doubt is recommended.
- Airmatic air suspension works great, but life is fragile and is expensive than other models than a regular chassis to repair.
- Specifically for the V6 CDI: If you have a cold start rattle hear can indicate a stretched chain. This you need to replace before more damage occurs.
- Specifically for the V6 CDI: Oil leakage from the turbo into the intake manifold may require replacing the intake manifold.
