Gemiddelde Chinese familiewagens??
The results (and amounts) will amaze you.

The Economist calculated the cost of an ‘average familycar’ from 2010 to 2012, with an engine capacity of 1.8 to 2.5 litres. This took an average of models from different categories, and counted here the operational costs (maintenance, fuel, insurance, road tax etc.) .

From this came the following table rolls, in which the amounts are in thousands of dollars (USD) are:

About the parameters of these top 15 course you can argue, it does not very much affect the result. A logical explanation for the outliers in the list is the presence of massive import duties for western cars. And perhaps the purchase of a license plate in Shanghai also included?

Amsterdam scores with a nice seventh place in the list, and drops a spot, because, according to The Economist cars here, compared to the previous measurement period, but preferably more than 10% cheaper.

The only explanation I can think of is the pockets of a segment, when you think in terms of an ‘average familycar’. With other words: where formerly a Golf in the list, is this now a Polo.
