Look what a beautiful spot! We see a DAF 750 pickup and a DAF 55 coupé together enjoying the sunshine.
DAF we know nowadays only of the trucks but almost everyone knows that the earlier cars were built. Up until 1975, to be exact. That was the year that Volvo’s passenger car division of the Van Doorne’s Automobielfabriek took over.
DAF 750
When the DAF 750 -that those who here in the yellowish brown, see – the factory were required, was that acquisition is still a long way off. The model came in 1961, concurrently with the DAF Daffodil on the market and had 30 hp 746 cc two-cylinder boxer engine a bit more power than the already available DAF 600. Basically it was the DAF 750 is a compact sedan, but the brand has a number of special versions such as the van variant from 1963, which we here see on the photo. There also was a station wagon and pick-up. Much success has the 750 in terms of sales not had, DAF-buyers were more impressed by the better business Daffodil. In total there are 16.767 pieces Holland factory to be rolled out.
DAF 55
The DAF 55 came a bit later, in 1968. It was the successor of the 44 and had to play a major role in the DAF range of models. The compact sedan was just like its predecessor, designed by Giovanni Michelotti, but had larger taillights and a thicker nose. That last to the new 1108 cc four-cylinder Renault of sufficient air. As you, of course, had already seen the DAF 55 in the photo is not a compact sedan. It is the coupé that DAF built for the sportive rider without the kids. On the occasion of the London-Sydney Marathon was the car was also available in a Marathon version. Who had 13 hp extra, a tachometer, sport steering wheel, alloy wheels and a different exhaust. The 55 that we see here dates from 1972, up to and including that year in the total 153.263 copies were built.
jeffreyderuiter spotted the bunch of + classic trailer in Eemnes, and laid it in a dignified way, fixed on the sensitive plate. As a Hub van Doorne was still alive, he would have him printed in Sepia, above his desk hung. Check it out on autojunk.nl.
