De start van de Grand Prix van Duitsland in 2014
Another moment, and we drive only in countries where the average viewer doesn’t know whether there is air or sand in the tires.

It has been a while coming, but the blow to many fans hard: the Grand Prix of Germany will disappear from the calendar. Not so long ago was the Formula 1 circus twice a year guest at our eastern neighbours, but now it turns out only one paltry race is financially not viable. For example, the fact that for the first time since 1960, no German Grand Prix on the calendar.

The Nürburgring and the Hockenheimring, the race the past few years. This year was the circuit in the Eifel at the turn, but there is the wallet for a while empty. The directors of the Hockenheimring found it on their turn, is not so sensible to the last moment to jump, because there is quite a bit involved to a Grand Prix to organize and in a short time enough to sell tickets.

For the diehards, we have bad news, because the German GP is not the last traditional race that seems to disappear. The Italian round on the circuit of Monza is already a while on the trip, while also the Belgian race at Spa-Francorchamps for years is under fire.

UPDATE (22-03): Today it was announced that Mercedes a (financial) offer to the German GP of doom to rescue, but unfortunately the offer is not accepted. In other words: the Formula 1 circus hits Germany this year unfortunately.
