Petrolheads with an aversion to high cars, rest assured: as well as Ferrari close now McLaren that an SUV is going to build.
Everyone in autoland has got, and will be the SUV, which is quite logical. An unspecified by name, the PR manager, put it recently to the undersigned as follows: “SUV’s are the business, only the different SUV segments are growing around the world, so there invest manufacturers are plenty in‘. Sounds legit. McLaren does here, however, is not. In the words of CEO Mike Flewitt captured them at the Beijing Auto Show at Bloomberg as follows:
“We genuinely believe we make the best sports cars in the world. We need to remain very focused. McLaren is a sports car brand and that’s exactly what we’re going to remain.”
An advantage of the small manufacturers is that they do not have to worry about expansion in the SUV segment: they have simply the capacity or the resources, or deliberately choose their capacity in such a way that they an SUV just don’t need. Ferrari is a good example of the latter, McLaren (ca 1.400 sales per year) applies as an independent car manufacturer more in the first category.
But small manufacturers are big, for Bentley had an SUV five years ago, but nowadays they are the 10,000 sales per year passed, so that SUV is just there. McLaren also has ambition for growth, in 2017 must sell ongevee tripled.
We conclude, therefore, that the cards for McLaren over an x number of years different. If the small Aston Martin through a collaboration with Daimler the door open to an SUV, then McLaren, which after a course of time.
Yet continues to this statement, however, is a decent open door. Tomorrow in the global media: “both Pagani as Koenigsegg and connect a SUV”
