Anything other than offroaders build it in a Jeep and the Grand Cherokee they were there very early on in this segment. Can you get the Grand Cherokee or skip if you’re in this class looking for something?
The European competition behaves more refined on the motorway, especially if you’re looking for a sporty driving SUV. Opposite to that, you can say that most of the people there is completely no SUV for purchase. Fast versions are, however, up to 6.1 litre HEMI V8 with 425 hp.
Offer used cars
- On AutoScout24 are something more than sixty Jeep Grand Cherokees of this generation to purchase.
- More than 60% diesel, 10% has a LPG installation.
- The majority has a navigation system and/ or parking sensors.
- Very occasionally there appears a Grand Cherokee on grey license plate number.
- Prices start at 8,000 euros.
Pros
- Character of the SUV.
- Brand name Jeep is solid.
- Used much value for money.
- High trekgewichten and good offroadmogelijkheden.
Issues
- Not the most spacious car in the back seat.
- Automatic transmission life, longer oil change/ flush.
- Very short service intervals, especially for engines (12,000 km).
- Note on wear and tear in the interior, that is not uncommon.
- Try all (!) buttons, or they work.
- Corrosion of diesel tanks at 3.0 CRD. The tank is (too) thin look is created, so be sure to check the state of the tank. Replacement is costly!
- Leakage swirl motor inlaattraject. Oil can leak between the manifold and turbo due to faulty design, suction tube and gasket. Replace swirlmotor is relatively costly due to labour and does not solve the problem completely. The original orange seal on the turbobuis is the problem, there seems to be a black Mopar seal, that is better.
- Listen to accelerate to a whooping sound, that may be the front differential.
