No one outside the environmental movement has objected to more asphalt for wider roads = less traffic jams, at least: in theory. Yet, there are voices against the planned widening of the A9 from 4 to 10 lanes.

The widening is planned on the route at the height of the Bijlmer, with a 2×5 layout including wisselstrook. Fidelity analyzed the traffic on the highway, and came to the conclusion that a widening now is a waste of money, because there is less driven than calculated.

€ 1.000.000.000

For the broadening is 1 billion, money that, according to critics, the better to other projects. Reasons put forward for the lower verkeersprognose on the A9, are the fact that more people at home to go to work and a disappointing inwonersgroei of Almere, which is expected in the coming years more people leave than come to live’. Logical: I would have earlier in a Liberian village with an ebola epidemic and want to live in Almere, but that aside.

If the situation on the A9, indeed, not soon be hitting the schedule in the refrigerator can be set. There are still sat other projects who are eager for financing, for money for transport and public Works, there is always a shortage. Anonymous sources explained, however, Trouw that the A9 is a highly prestigious project has become what the cost doorgeduwd is going to be.

The A9 motorway runs from the North of the province noord-Holland to Amsterdam Southeast. This last piece would be for broadening eligibility. The highway appears in a recent list of persistent fileknooppunten, but on a route that a piece is further north, between Alkmaar and Amstelveen.
