The design of the case was present an airtight container under pressure of 1.2 atmosphere, where the radio system, program-temporary device, the battery thermal control system and some measuring devices. After a soft landing is automatically opened four blade antennas that were installed on the upper hemisphere of the shell station.

Before the successful landing of the “Luna-9” in the USSR made ten attempts, but none of them failed. Data received from the interplanetary station confirmed the “meteor-slag” theory of the structure of the outer cover of the moon.
