Aston Martin surprised friend and foe (and probably also themselves) with a botergeile street-racer; the to 100 copies limited edition, out of print, racy and relatively light V12 Vantage GT3. Apparently one did in Zuffenhausen after the unveiling of the collective angstplasje, because Porsche was not happy with the type name of the hot Brit.

Nonsense if you ask us. GT3 is not a type name where Porsche with their party-911 have the exclusive right to, or should have had, it is just an indication that especially in the racing used to be a racing series to a point. Just like the GT1, GT2 and so on that were, or are.

The Vantage GT3 is Vantage GT12

Porsche thought otherwise and brought his lawyers into position, to ensure that Aston Martin says ‘GT3’ would be deleted. A lot -no doubt expensive – negotiations later choose the British eggs for their money.

The Vantage GT3 and z’n racebroer are renamed GT12 to expensive legal issues with a Porsche, that money has, thanks to parent company VW, is the way to go. A pity that ‘t should be so, we had not really behind Porsche sought.
