Joy in the vaderlandsche autolandschap, because Spyker has something new announced. The B6 Concept is smaller than what we are used to from Spyker, and with the right financial resources – which they now have thanks to Youngman, might be ever in a showroom. But how about the myriad of Spykers That Never Came? We list them.
Conceptvoertuigen at a fancy car show reveal is one, customers to sign, and your product marketing is a second, and at the same time the most difficult task. CEO Victor Muller knows it also always nice to bring, but one way or another, has Spyker a solid reputation of cars that never were sold, or still in the hold.
2003 – Spyker C8 T
At the IAA launched Spyker ten years ago, a special C8 version, with Audi’s 4.2 V8 BiTurbo engine, pimped by Cosworth Technology and good for 525 hp. There was hoped to get 25 copies, there were zero.
2004 – Spyker C12 Spyder
On the MilFair of 2004 drew Spyker the cloth of a cabrioletversie of the Le Mans racebolide, equipped with a 6.0 W12 Audi. The price of 475.000 euro was probably something ridiculous, because it remained at one prototype.
2005 – Spyker C8 Double 12S Spyder
A year later it was the turn of the C8 Double 12S Spyder. More length, more rivets, more Spykeriaanse beauty. Unfortunately he was never sold (unlike his dense brother, the C8 Double 12S).
2005 – Spyker C12 La Turbie
Re-powered (on paper at least) by Audi’s W12 with 500hp and 600Nm. Spyker promised a top speed of 315km/h and acceleration to 100 in 3.9 seconds. It remained to a filmoptreden…
2006 – Spyker D12 Peking-to-Paris
The SSUV without end. First it was the D12, then D8, then went to brands such as Bentley, Lamborghini and Maserati to go with the concept of the superluxe SUV. With some Chinese help, Victor, seven years old idea, therefore, is still in production. This, we give the designation of ‘pending’.
2007 – Spyker C12 Zagato
The Limited-Edition C12 Zagato. Still a very striking version of the Spyker C12. There would be 24 copies were built, all with 500 hp. It was finally in this one version.
2008 – Spyker C8 Aileron (pending)
Now we come to a car with the most chance of success in terms of production. There was already a number of times promised that the C8 to go into production, but also time and again postponed. Now the ‘production line’ is back in Zeewolde, the Aileron finally in larger numbers should be built, because much more than those few demos that drive around are not there yet.
2010 – Spyker C8 Aileron Spyder (pending)
Same story as with the Aileron, but without the caret. We still hope that the VM can manage this on the market, just look at it!
