Superformance Daytona Coupe
This beautiful coupé combines a rich past with modern technology, a new generation of the classic muscle car.

Between 1964 and 1965, there were six Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupes built to compete against Ferrari in the GT class. It was the first and only American car that the FIA International Championship for GT Manufacturers (formerly known as the World Sportscar Championship) won. Shelby went ahead with the Ford GT40, but for America was racing a new meaning.

A real Shelby Daytona is of course priceless, but the replica – a Superformance Daytona Coupe is a worthy alternative. The design comes from Peter Brock and Bob Negstad, the designers of the original Daytona Coupe body and suspension for Shelby American. The classic looks hide a car that was produced between 2003 and 2009, and is still quite young.

By default, the Superformance Daytona Coupe is delivered with a fiberglass body, but an aluminum copy was also available through Shelby American dealers. This is probably the spotted specimen from Belgium, but who knows, the owner has a lot of extra effort and pulled out his car from Norway or even the United States. Who can say?

We are in any case pleased that he did, because replica or not, it’s a fantastic appearance. The sound should also be good from the 5.7 litre Ford Windsor V8, which is not by Superformance itself is selected, but the builder of the kitcar. The standard equipment will give the car slightly more luxurious than the original, such as power steering and air conditioning.
