Where the general assumption is that young people are enormously interested in new mobility, it appears from several recent studies that that’s not the case at all and that she’s still just a car.
An outcome of the research “Young people and Mobility” that is currently being carried out with funding from the four major cities and several provinces showed that young people have little need of new mobility. They still dream of cars and scooters and find an electric bike typically something for the elderly. Public transport is mostly associated with problems.
Young people still choose love for cars, although there were also respondents who, for example, because of the online for the train to choose. And where the assumption is that young people are very in to “sharification” (together, buying or renting products, and then bring them to share), it appears that this assumption after the first phase of the study incorrectly. We want a car for ourselves, as it turns out. The intermediate position in the research is made after 40 in-depth interviews with young people aged 12 to 24 years. These interviews serve as the basis for a quantitative research under a further 1,500 young people. Now, over forty respondents not exactly something where we get a conclusion on the base, but fortunately, there are recently more studies of the autowens of young people done.
The Association of Dutch car lease Companies also did research. That research confirms a decrease of car ownership among young people between 18 and 30 years. However, young people give to in the future have a car to want, and “young business drivers have even the most ambitious visions of the future about the specifics of their driving.” This research has shown that young people in the car ownership something to postpone as it was not good to fit into the current stage of life, but that the autowens greatly increases if, for example, a career move or development on a personal area takes place.
Finally, it appears from research of LeasePlan Netherlands that young people are still interested in cars. They would still other lease cars, find out than their parents. So young people much earlier for a hatchback or cabriolet than the elderly, which is more often a station or MPV to find out. One in three young people will find a car important in the secondary benefits.
Young people estimate the costs, however, wrong in, almost three-quarters doing an estimate under the actual maandkosten of a car. As regards travel to work, half of the young people according to LeasePlan no more than a half an hour, 5% of the students find a time to one and a half hours is acceptable.
All of these surveys highlight so the conclusion of the investigation where we are in June, attention is paid to Young people choosing not for car but for the car later.
