That Audi is heavily betting on autonomous transport is known. The last few years the number of self-propelled whole concept car’s has grown, with this R8 e-tron piloted driving concept as a provisional highlight.
Audi has a techbeurs an opportunity to function as a pilot. At the Consumer Electronics Show in Shanghai tonight the canvas of this elektrieke and self-propelled R8 pulled. In the base it is a standard R8 e-tron, with a 92 kwh battery the e-juice supplies the two electric motors, good for 460 horsepower and 920 Nm. This means that the 0-100 sprint in 3.9 seconds.
The difference with the normal R8 line-up: in this car you should not have fun. The acceleration, braking and steering, and is done by smart soft – and hardware. Audi has the R8 with a cluster of (ultrasonic) sensors, laser scanners, video cameras and a radar. Data is transmitted to a central computer in the car, which is a virtual image outlines of the area, where the R8, independently, through which you can navigate.
We consider the small chance that the R8 is actually a self-propelled supercar is that you soon can order at the dealer. That would be the concept of ‘supercar’ slightly down pick up of course. Now, it is just a showcase that demonstrates how far along the Germans are with autonomous transport. The first Audi with autonomous functions in series production is taken is the next-generation A8, which in 2017 is on the market.
