UN: no amnesty for war crimes Syria

GENEVA –

The starving of civilians in Syria might be a war crime and a crime against humanity and can therefore never be part of any amnestieregeling. That has the mensenrechtenchef of the United Nations said Monday.

A number of villages and towns in Syria is already under siege. Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein stressed in Geneva that there can be no question of amnesty for war crimes or crimes against humanity.

Al Hussein cited, inter alia, the situation in the town of Madaya, which since last year surrounded by the Syrian army. The last time came poignant images and stories outside out of Madaya. A number of people would be there all the dying to be dead. Fifteen other cities, towns and villages in Syria are just as Madaya from the outside world ended.
