More hot Waves? There we say no to.

After the sketches of last week, these are the first images of the real Race GTI, a concept with productiepotentie. The 265 hp strong E888-engine provides the front wheels with boost, briefly 10% more power, reportedly remains at the maximum torque unchanged t.o.v. the standard GTI’s. He is linked to a 6-speed DSG, but a manual gearbox would also be in the cards. In addition, the suspension was adjusted.

On the front we are looking at a new bumper with a central hood scoop, lucas, and on both sides of the mesh ventilation holes for the brakes, black blades with flics in it, and a splittertje. The back is a roof spoiler and on both sides of the rear bumper-with-diffuser is adorned with a single round exhaust pipe.

The body is two-tone: the Oryx White paint is complemented with a black roof. On the flank, we find a black, historically justified indent with ‘Clubsport’-lettering.

Insiders already know for sure that the thing simply goes into production, while VW’s GTI-anniversary year of 2016. The 19 inch wheels of the show models will be replaced by 18-inch specimens, but there is no one that you stop when you 22 inch Bentley wheels on to screws.
