Flitsbusje rijdt zich vast
According to the Association for road traffic victims, which radio calls to stop.

After fierce criticism from verkeersveiligheidsorganisaties are a number of Belgian radio stations last year have already stopped with the passing of flitsmeldingen. If to the Association for road traffic victims is to do Dutch radio stations the same. Because by flashes snitchen would criminal conduct be facilitated. Chairman Caroline Reindl has an open letter to the radio stations, sent them their behavior is unethical call, because they are on the back of road casualties listeners trying to lure with such info.

Below is the full letter from president Caroline Reindl.

Gentlemen,

We, the Association of road accident victims, have found that You during Your broadcasts to Your listeners to inform about the places, where the danger zones for motorised traffic. To politely express it, we are not pleased with it, because it is proven that (high) speed both one of the main underlying causes of accidents, as well as the severity of accidents increases. As the former public prosecutor during the Commemoration of the victims of road accidents, stated, “If we are alcohol and driving too fast can eliminate, we already have 2/3 of the fatalities occur”. We may, therefore, conclude that Your conduct, behaviour facilitates what we, given the seriousness of the consequences for crash victims, as criminal (purposely, intentionally exceeding the local speed limit) to qualify.

In the Dutch traffic fall each year (officially) about 570 dead (but having regard to the maximum period of 30 days and underreporting, this number earlier around 750 amount) and a 20 000 ziekenhuisgewonden of which there are approximately 4 000 permanent injury or stress. Every year again! In addition, the cost of the danger to the Dutch society, ca. € 13 BILLION per year, of which a large part also on the shoulders of the victims. We suspect that this information about speed is provided in order listeners to Your radio station to lure and keep. We consider this however, as the reach of short-term goals that You are trying to achieve on the back of road traffic victims and it will hopefully not come as a surprise that we this behavior as unethical rate. It is not for nothing that radar is illegal.

Maybe You are not aware of the extent of the social problem of unsafe roads because here – o.i. wrongly, very little attention is paid in relation to other problems in society, but that does not mean that there is indeed a lot of human suffering, the danger is caused. Our listed numbers, and numbers can be found on the website of the Foundation for Scientific Research, road Safety www.swov.nl where a large number of reports and “fact sheets” can be freely obtained. Traffic rules are there for our own safety, that of You and Your listeners! And, as the English so crisp expression: “Speed kills!” We hope with all of my heart that after reading this letter, Your policy in this matter will be reviewed, so, in contrast to now, a contribution can be made to reduce the danger and thus the number of victims and the costs for the Dutch society.
Yours sincerely, on behalf of the board of the Association of road traffic victims,

Caroline Reindl

First of all: who has accurate and real-time icons on his route, used today a app. Second: it’s not like radio stations, speed cameras and safety camera in residential areas to pass. In addition, with the passing of speed cameras along the highway is nothing wrong, because they are not there for road safety. There are to be annual £ 1.1 billion in fines to rakes and the treasury. Populist nonsense? Nope. This is by Koos Spee himself confirmed in 2012. That in the Netherlands every year 570 deaths in traffic is a terrible metric, but it seems to us strongly that radio stations this number in maintaining a few hectometerpaaltjes to mention where a highwayman is parked. As long as the government in a raid-like manner on the driver hunt is the transmission of flashes in my eyes never unethical.

But we are curious what you think of it. Is the passing of flitsmeldingen criminal or not?
