An archaeological team from the cinquantenaire museum, in Brussels says an important discovery that has been made in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The Belgian researchers presented an inscription to expose that proves that the kingdom of Oman is already in the third century before Christ existed, reported the museum Monday.
A team led by Bruno Overlaet, curator of the museum found the inscription on the 17 december at the archaeological site of Mleiha, in the centre of the UAE. The team was to work in two underground chambers which ever of a cube-shaped monument adorned. The large boulders accumulated rooms housed in former times the deceased and their the art of recording.
The found inscription is bilingual and written in Aramaic, and Old South Arabic. The text mentions the identity and the family line of the deceased and the date on which the monument was established. ,,The inscription contains the earliest mention of Oman and proves that the kingdom already existed in the late third century Bc,” according to the museum. ,,So far dated the oldest mention of Oman from the first century after Christ.”
