Stirling Moss
Together, they are 172, and thus with the right a bunch of old bosses. That did Stirling Moss and Hans Herrmann not to on the occasion of Moss’s 60-year-old Mille Miglia-anniversary to take place in a Mercedes 300 SLR.

The 300 SLR let, according to Mercedes can best be described as a ‘W 196 R Formula 1 racing car with a two-seater sports car body. In 1955 shined Moss and co-pilot Denis Jenkinson (start number 722) with an average of 157.65 km/h by the Mille Miglia. A record that still stands, and never broken will be.

We are now 60 years on, and Moss is still with us (Jenkinson died already in ’96). A great opportunity for the Germans to put him in the limelight. They gathered a number of old photos from the Mille Miglia history, including the following, Jenkinson and Moss as a 3rd and 4th person from the left:

On autojunk was also recently a convoy of modern SLR’s spotted, that they were on their way to the Mille Miglia 2015. Oh, and check the bemmende video Petrolicious (there they are again) in command of Mercedes made.
