The press service of the Ministry of communications announced the official launch of the second mobile operator in Crimea. Mobile operator created on the basis of the fixed network operator “Krastelecom”.
The operator will work on the entire territory of the Crimean Federal district. At the moment the network consists of 128 base stations with cellular communication of the third generation. Future plans include the development of a network of second generation standards, GSM, and fourth generation LTE. Sales of SIM cards will begin on 2 February 2016.
We will remind, the first segment 3G Russian mobile network in Crimea earned in August 2014. The launch took place during the international youth forum “Tavrida-2014” near Sevastopol.
In may 2015 the 3G network and LTE started working in Sevastopol, earlier segments of the communication network of the third generation were put into the centre of Simferopol and near the international airport of Simferopol. In June of 2015 started 3G network and LTE in Kerch, from August 2015 in Yalta and in the popular resorts of the southern coast of Crimea. At the moment on the territory of the Crimean Federal district operates 260 base stations of 3G standard and 60 base stations of standard LTE.
