“Bugatti Veyron successor called Chiron”

The Veyron is almost sold out, but a successor is already “in the works” and this has now been given a name.

There are still a dozen or so Veyrons to order, so Bugatti is now busy with the development of its successor. It is therefore not strange that there are slowly some details to the outside seep about the successor of this icon. According to Car and Driver is the successor of the Veyron is the badge “Chiron”.

It wouldn’t be the first time that Bugatti use this name in 1999, it launched a concept car with Chiron 18/3. This with a W18 engine-equipped concept was designed by ItalDesign, designed by Fabrizio Giugiaro. The Chiron was named after Louis Alexandre Chiron, a relatively unknown racing driver from Monaco who is known best as the oldest driver ever to an F1 race you participated in. His last F1 race was the GP of Monaco in 1955, Chiron was 55 years old.

He tried to the years that followed, also taking part, but did not qualify, in 1958 he did his last attempt, again on his thuiscircuit in Monaco. Because of Chiron’s successes in Monaco, there is a statue placed in the harbour of the circuit, near the pool. Also is turn thirteen of the circuit (the road and the drivers around the pool), is named after him.

The Veyron-successor seems to be so now also Chiron to be called. Maybe what a lot of honour for a man that ever the French F1 rider Hellé Nice in the destruction helped by her (most likely falsely) accuse of being a member of the Gestapo. This happened in 1949, and Nice hit because of this lost everything: her sponsors, her career, her friends and family, and even her marriage. Later research has never can provide any evidence that Nice at the Gestapo would have been. The fact that Chiron was not named in the Légendes series reignited the rumors that the successor Chiron is going to be called. We will see.
