Bentley Mulsanne Speed: faster & more luxurious

If the 512 horsepower from the regular Mulsanne is not sufficient, Bentley now offer a Speed variant. With more horsepower and more luxury.

The new Mulsanne Speed will retain the 6.75-liter V8, but it now delivers 537 hp and a formidable 1,100 Nm of torque, available from a comfortable 1.750 rpm. This means that the Mulsanne Speed, with its dry weight of 2685 kg, in 4,9 seconds to 100 km/h tap. The top speed comes out at 305 km/h. Bentley announces proudly that the block 13% more efficient in the test cycle. But everything is relative, since the CO2 emissions are still 342 g/km.

Switch comes with an eight speed automatic transmission of ZF, equipped with an additional sports mode. In this S-mode, the turbo’s above 2,000 rpm on speed held, in order to respond to input from the accelerator pedal. Also the air is in this setting a tad harder, to bodyroll in the bends, if you plan the British luxeslee on z’n thunder.

Bentley has the Mulsanne Speed to the outside, a few subtle changes, a dark grille and headlights with a other interior. There are new 21-inch rims in the wheel wells and the 5,57-metre-long sedan has a completely new two-toned interior, where 150 hours of work and 14 koeienhuiden in his sit. Also the perforated sportpedalen are not missing, we are talking after all about a Speed-variant. A term that, until recently, only on nouveau riche-models like the Continental GT was stuck.

The Bentley Mulsanne Speed will debut next month at the Paris motor show.
