Al Qaeda conquers town in Southern Yemen

ADEN –

Dozens of al-Qaeda fighters have on Monday in the south of Yemen, the town of Azzan conquered. That have residents of the city said.

Dozens of armed men came in the early hours in the city and convert instantly checkpoints on the access roads. ,,They have their black flag on government buildings placed,” said a resident of Azzan. ,,They are not in opposition of any kind.” Fighters of local tribes have to leave the city.

Azzan was already in the hands of al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP). In 2012, the extremists are driven out by an alliance of local tribes and the central government of the country. The government was last year ousted by the shiite Houthi rebels, who have large parts of the country in their hands.
