The new BMW 7-series: this is ‘m!

After a long wait it is then! Meet BMW’s new flagship.
BMW has the registers as we all expected, considerably broadened with the new 7-series. Biggest news is the arrival of the 740e plug-in hybrid, which despite a combined capacity of 326 hp only 49 grams of CO2 per kilometre vomits at a consumption of 2.1 l/100 km. Neat, but we all know that in practice a bit less rosy sign. In addition, the novice is not more for 7%-other eligible, because he appears only in 2016.
Other versions are up to 130 kg lighter than the previous model, or a new six-in-line, or a V8. The different type descriptions are divided into: 740e, 750i (450 hp), 740i (326 hp) and 730d (265 hp). All types can be ordered with a long wheelbase, what it undoubtedly will do well in the Chinese market.
The regular version measures 5.098 mm at 1.902 mm for 1.478 mm. A big boy. The EWB version has a 14 cm longer wheelbase and measure the length 5.238 mm. Unlike other manufacturers that nowadays their models to shrink, is the new Siebener the largest production BMW ever.
In terms of lighting is LED with the standard, who still wants to stand out or on the road Audi’s wants bullying choose for laser. Rims measure standard 17 or 18 inches, but the copies in the optieboekje go up to a whopping 21 inches. In addition, there is a M-sport package to be ordered with the necessary outer embellishments. Nope, on an M7 we don’t need to count.
The iDrive system was in the beginning maligned for its awkward interface, but in the course of generations opinions differ slightly adjusted and the system was improved. The distinctive dial has the new 7 as well, only been replaced with a touchscreen.
As mentioned is the BMW up to 130 kg lighter. It will not surprise you that also in this case, carbon is the magic word. CFRP in combination with steel and aluminium to ensure at the same time, adequate stiffness and a lower weight. BMW did all the necessary expertise in this field, with of course the i3 and the i8. Nice to mention is that the unsprung mass by as much as 15% decreased. Best performance! The weight distribution front:rear would be a perfect 50:50.
The V8 was the top of the range (the 750i) under the light held, and significantly improved. The 4.4-liter big block with two turbos is now good for 450 hp. The blown 3.0 six-in-line in the 740i is largely out of aluminium built and delivers 326 hp. Dieselaars will have to make do with a 3-litre six-in-line, good for 265 hp at 620 Nm. Not determined do so.
Leaserijders with deep pockets look probably the most out of the 740e. However, the hybrid combines a blown 2.0 four-cylinder with an electric motor, which together results in 326 hp, and the aforementioned emissions and consumption figures. Maximum range at 120 km/h is about 40 km.
The power and torque to the wheels is sent via an 8-speed automatic, which also is linked to the GPS system. Flippers behind the steering wheel are optional, as well as Launch Control. Which director/politician would be that option in the hell to order? Oh well, fun of course.
The chassis promises to be as to be expected, even more comfort, without compromising the driving dynamics. Difficult to here something to say about it, but we leave it up to Wouter or Casper on that in practice to figure out. Real players should, however, as the Executive Lounge package checking for that little bit of extra luxury on the back seat.
Further, the 7-series is equipped with a larger Head-Up display and can-ie with remote control facilities. Nice! In addition, the car can be personalized, because you want to, of course, not exactly the same BMW driving if your colleagues in the boardroom.
Last but not least: the previously leaked design. We find ‘m yourself from the front, just a little too much on the 3-series seem. Absolutely no ugly car, but we are a bit ready with the oh-so recognizable familiegezichten today totally hip and happening. Nevertheless, it is as always beautiful to see how the 7-series in it really turns out, because the chance that we ‘m, Dreier going to confuse seems to be given the dimensions of the new limo nil.
Prices you check below, the 740e is only next year and there will not be. All other versions are on October 24, in the showroom.
