Schuppan 962CR
This supercar has been developed by the Australian racing driver Vern Schuppan, and he even needed help from Porsche. As he received from Porsche the drawings and information about the monocoque of the Porsche 962 to make their own version to be able to build. Also the engine is from Porsche.

Vern Schuppan was active in Formula 1 and Indy 500, but the most success he had with sportscars and at Le Mans. Which race did he know in 1983 to win with a Porsche 956, he came six times in action at Le Mans with a Porsche 962C. Not so strange therefore that he that the cars chose as the basis for his own supercar.

With the help of Japanese investors was the beginning of years ’90 the Schuppan 962CR developed. The design was based on the Porsche 962, but the chassis and the body were completely new. In the back is a 600 horsepower twin-turbo 3.3-liter air-cooled boxer engine from the Porsche 962C as who was active in the American IMSA championship.

Thanks to a weight of 1,050 pounds, it is possible to in around 3.5 seconds from standstill to 100 km/h sprint and a top speed of 370 km/h. The list price of a Schuppan 962C at that time was approximately $1.5 million and that is probably also one of the reasons why there are only 5 or 6 copies are built. The fact that there can never be paid for two cars to Japanese customers went took Schuppan went bankrupt.

Rightfully so, a special car with a special story.
