Cadillac Fleetwood hearse: special barnfind

It is perhaps strange to get excited about a hearse, but there are instances in which the heart of a car buff will go faster save. Even with a thick layer of dust and huge roestplekken it is clear that the 1935 Cadillac Fleetwood V12, a remarkable discovery has been made.

This Fleetwood hearse is a so-called Carved-Panel or Damascus Hearse. The difference with a normal copy (to the extent you have in hearses of “just” can speak) is that the sides consist of carved wooden panels. The curtains that are shown to give the car a gothic look with a nod to lijkkoetsen.

The Caddy was powered by a 6 litre V12 with around 150 hp. Because the eye here also, what were all the hoses and wires neatly concealed. Hell to work with, and that is probably the reason why the motor in the barnfind copy part from each other is achieved. The sell claims that the motor and driveline still intact, but it will be difficult parts to find for a restoration to the original state. In 1935 only two V12 commercial chassis built, which are not necessarily both converted to Damascus Hearse.

However, here the bad news. It is you probably already noticed that all the wood on the car is missing, weggerot through the years. The wooden panels that make this car so unique for a firm price to create, but there must also be a complete new wooden frame to be built. The rear part of the metal bodywork was no longer supported and has been removed cut to prevent further damage. This part is included in the delivery, but it will be a tough job to put everything back together.

How it originally came from to see is a mystery. Below is a 1938 S&S Cadillac which is probably most in the neighborhood will come. Through all the difficulties of a restoration of the Fleetwood to come and watch, it is probably easier and cheaper on a rat rod build, such as the seller on eBay already represents. (Via Barnfinds)
