APK-regels voor benzineauto's zijn verder aangescherpt
Melanie Schultz has on the advice of a the APK consultative body decided to use the scheme to adapt.

We can give you a whole story, but the main issues are as follows:

  • Petrol cars are annually called for, APK after 160.000 km. This rule goes into effect from may 2018.
  • Keuringsmoment #1 for petrol cars made after 2005 will also in the future after four years.
  • APK-duty: a new ascription remains unchanged.
  • Classics of 50 years of age or older are exempt from MOT-duty, instead of the current limit of 1 January 1960.

According to BOVAG show older cars with solid mileage more and more defects, which is one of the main reasons for the new rule with regards to petrol cars. Zelfontbranders and petrol cars from before 2005 have only after three years, the inspection, then each year a fresh MOT to be achieved.

In the petrol cars of 2005 or later, the first inspection after four years, then in the sixth, eighth, and each year thereafter. New is the rule that this type of car after reaching 160,000 miles on the odometer each year must be inspected. That mileage is since last year in addition, at each inspection/bank transfer/onderhoudsmoment registered.

Classics were exempt from APK duty if they are from before January 1, 1960. That border is simply set at 50 years of age or older.
