We have a long, long time to wait. Now it’s finally there: the new Alfa Romeo Giulia.
To take a picture of how very Italian the new Alpha has just been revealed: while Andrea Bocelli Nesun Dorma performed brought the new Giulia, under loud applause on the stage driven in Milan, and the new 3.0 V6 turbocharged engine – developed with the help of Ferrari, his throat if scraping. Bellissimo.
The new Giulia has, according to Alfa, the longest wheelbase in its class – though there were no concrete figures called – and is the overhang on the front briefly to mention. The Italians have targeted a 50/50 weight distribution, with drive to the rear wheels. There will also be versions with all-wheel drive.
The only engine that Alfa Romeo has released the aluminum 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine in the QV version (Quadrifoglio Verde) is placed, by engineers from Ferrari to 510 hp lifted, which allows a sprint to 100 in 3,9 counting is possible. In quiet moments occurs in the electronic cilinderuitschakeling to fuel consumption to print. Alfa claims a nice power to weight ratio of 3kg per bhp. Indeed, the top model weighs not more than 1530 kg.
Torque Vectoring
The Giulia features Torque Vectoring, which the differential between the rear wheels with double links the forces at each wheel can divide. An outcome in slippery conditions. Alfa says that the driving this is always ‘fun’ remains, without the intervention of annoying ESP’s. At the rear of the car has Alfa Romeo used a multilink suspension. On the front is a construction with double wishbones and a semi-virtual steering axle is applied, which is a direct control ensures.
Another novelty is the Active Aero Splitter on the front, and that the downforce is continuously regulated, for more grip. Also Alfa’s DNA Selector is on board (this time, a controller, how Ferrari of them) that gives you the regular versions of the Giulia in the modes Dynamic, Natural, and Advanced Efficient can put. The latter is a new mode that allows the car to its most efficient drive. The QV-version get the best setting: Racing.
Carbon
The Giulia QV, which is a sloppy 80 hp more than the BMW M3, makes use of a number of lightweight materials. For the drive shaft is carbon fiber, the hood and the roof are made of aluminum. The brakes are made of ceramic material and the weight will continue to reduce the rear crossmember composite and plastic used.
What we don’t know yet
Alpha showed today, on the 105th anniversary of the brand, a lot of info loose, but has not left the back of his tongue. Everything turned to the QV version with 510 hp, and only there is footage of. The standard Giulia a with a 1750 TBi block and less intense appearance is still missing. As well as the interieurpics, other motoreninfo and specs. But we do not complain. Today is the Alpha’s party, when they are hungry Alfisti and other petrolheads brought a powersedan with potential. Hooray!
Alfa Romeo’s future: eight new models
The Giulia had not much later. The car follows the Alfa Romeo 159, which since 2011 is no longer being made. Since then glittered the brand by their absence in the D-segment. We can be the Giulia, so feel free to see it as a tipping point within the brand, because ceo Sergio Marchionne promises that the sedan will signal the start of an ambitious modellenoffensief.
With a budget of 5 billion euro, he wants to be next to the Giulia, a mid-sized SUV and a new flagship, which in 2017 should arise. Followed by a second SUV, a second car (perhaps a coupe-like Giulia), and two compact models as well as a new roadster in 2018. A plan by which the annual sales to 400,000 cars need to be lifted, that in 2013 on 73.000 pieces lay. Either, this is Alfa Romeo’s margin call: will they succeed this time, then it is ready.
UPDATE: this is the first video of the Giulia, which you Pentastar V6 loudly to hear the roar.
