Other than you tend to think, for a change, for once not about the Takata airbags.
The American Autoblog has a memo from Volvo in the direction of all the dealers know to intercept, which also shared, until further notice, no zevenzits XC90’s off to deliver them to customers. The cause was a problem with the rear gordijnairbag, that the third row of seats to protect in the event of a collision.
According to our naamgenoot.com a spokesperson from Volvo now confirms that a recall is imminent. The problem would be him not in the airbag itself, but in the panel that this plofzak in the D-pillar. This would in some cases not sufficiently open, allowing the airbag to not completely inflate.
It is striking that, according to Volvo would be safe to use this car to drive, but dealers nevertheless prompted new XC90’s don’t take to supply. It would go to all zevenzits XC90’s, but accidents have, to date, fortunately, not occurred. What are the consequences of this recall in the Netherlands and for the timely delivery of the XC90 T8 Twin Engines in particular – is not known.
UPDATE: thanks to @gtwillem know we might have a bit more:
That old me has a T8 ordered. He is, off-the-record, informed of the problem. From what I understood is that they are aware of, but it seemed to go fiksen. So the T8’s will be just will be delivered, but need to go straight towards the dealer to the inconvenience to remedy.
Again, completely unofficial, but I will keep you posted! What the importer says seems rather important to be before the dealers an official ruling do… ;-).
UPDATE 2 – reaction Volvo EN (6 August – 09:00 pm):
We have taken notice of the recall of the Volvo XC90. It is not yet known how many cars are in the Netherlands*. As soon as there is additional official information of the central office can be shared, we will do that, of course, immediately.
*Now has Volvo the Netherlands to let us know that all in the Netherlands delivered XC90’s cars that seat seven and are therefore most likely under the recall to fall. More details will follow in the coming days.
