January: ten times more asylum seekers

Amsterdam –

The number of migrants since the beginning of the year to Europe is drawn continues to break records.

In four weeks time, according to figures from the UNHCR, already ten times more asylum seekers to the Mediterranean Sea than in the whole of January 2015: 54.518 to 5550. Last year took until the end of april, beginning of may to that number.

According to the UN refugee organisation, are 57 percent of the registered asylum seekers adult men.

Who the figures from month to month compares, since november in fact a decrease in the number of boat refugees in Greece and Italy. Compared with december there is even talk of a spacious halving.
