We have to wait a long time, but finally going to Peugeot again, and seriously interfere in the battle for the hottest hothatch. With 250 or even 270 hp is a lot vermogender than the Volkswagen Golf GTI and also outperforms the fastest version is just the 265 hp Megane RS.

To small rims does Peugeot not, by default, the GTi 250 already on 18-inch wheels (optional 19-inch) and the carriage 11 mm lower than a standard 308. This gain is partly negated by the larger brake discs front: 380 mm, compared to 330 mm for the GTi 250. Behind it, in both cases, disks with a diameter of 268 mm. In addition, you get standard leather upholstered sports seats in the fastest GTi, while you are in the 250 hp variant of the standard substance.

Performance

Enough about the appearance, how fast is the 308 GTi? The 270 hp version of the 1.6 e-THP engine, good for a sprint from 0-100 km/h in just 6 seconds, the 250 hp version has 0.2 seconds longer. About top speed Peugeot not (we guess approx. 250 km/h), do the GTI 270 and 250, the 1000m standing start, respectively, 25.3 and 25.6 seconds.

On a twisty circuit is the difference between the two versions is likely to be slightly larger, the GTi 270 gets a standard Torsen differential with limited slip, so you at the exit of a turn just a bit earlier and hungrier on the gas can. The system divides the torque of 330 Nm on the front wheels, whereby the wheel with the most grip also the most torque.

It is still wait and see when the 308 GTi in the Peugeot showroom to find out, also about the price attack, we are still in the dark.

Update 06-08 – the prices are known: € 37.400,- for the GTi 250, and € 40.400,- for the GTi 270.
