The state Corporation “Roscosmos” reports a successful examination, on a test of the Voronezh design Bureau of chemical automation (JSC kbkha) the first series of tests a high-frequency ion electric rocket engine.
“In the future, planned new fire tests to produce the resource and to test the stability of confirmed characteristics of such motors in continuous operation”, — informs the official website of the Corporation.

Development engine is a joint work kbkha and Moscow aviation Institute. Fire tests took place in a special closed vacuum the stand and confirmed the compliance of all parameters of the engine characteristics laid down in the specification.
It should be noted that the development of electric propulsion thrusters on the Russian enterprise is conducted since 2012. Design Bureau has won the subsidy of the Ministry of education on creation of high technological production.
In contrast to the LRE (liquid rocket engines), the development of which kbkha has been doing for more than a decade, electric propulsion have recently become a new direction of research works in the enterprise.
Such engines can be used to solve all kinds of problems. For example, they can be used for correction and stabilization of the orbit satellites. In addition, many it is believed that ion engines will open up access to humanity beyond the Solar system.
