From the NASA probe “New horizons” continue to come all new photos of Pluto. At last the pictures you can consider in detail the potential cryovolcano, named Wright, Mgr.

Last November, researchers at NASA announced the discovery of two potential cryovolcano on Pluto: Wright Mons and Pickard, Mgr. The image below is the view of Wright Mons, named in honor of designers of the first airplane the Wright brothers.

Cryovolcanic, or ice volcanoes, erupt, like their terrestrial colleagues. Instead, they spew a mixture of ice and various substances including nitrogen, water, ammonia and some others.

On the photo you can see a relatively young surface with virtually no impact craters, which means that the crust in this area was formed relatively recently. Scientists still do not know what are the red lines and whether or not REIT Mgr is cryovolcano.

If so, its sheer size (144 kilometers wide and 4 kilometers in height) makes it the largest cryovolcano in the Outer Solar system.
