And no, that paintjob is not really standard.
What is not standard is the carbon fibre body we saw on the Peugeot 308 R Concept in Frankfurt on the show floor to shine more. We assume that the 308 R just a steel body with uitgeklopte fenders and such, but hope to be on a slightly bruter than the 208 GTi compared to the regular 208.
As a basis for the hot Peugeot 308 is the engine taken from the RCZ R, a 270-bhp 1.6 turbo. This would mean that the 308 R (or the “GTi” or “RC”?) in the same way as, for example, a Renault Mégane RS and Opel Astra OPC. Logically, it might also first have to have a 308 GTi (this had also been vague rumours) and then a 308 R.
Topgear did this, to tell by one of Peugeots chiefs, Maxime Picat. The 308 R is a logical next step in the sporting direction that the brand has chosen the 208 GTi and next, the updated RCZ R. Let’s hope that the ingredients of the RCZ R and the concept at the IAA to retain, for a hot hatchback of Peugeot with 270 hp, a Torsen differential and a manual gearbox to sound like music in my ears. Make that thing, Peugeot. Make that thing. Now.
No, really. Make that thing. Now.
