The original Kurzweil’s idea was to give blind and visually impaired people to read books. The first copy of the Kurzweil Reading Machine was demonstrated to the National Federation of the blind USA (NFB), where the device was met with great enthusiasm. And after six years, the inventor moved on to work with synthesizers music and founded Kurzweil Music Systems. One of the first products, the synthesizer Kurzweil K250 was so good that in blind testing, the musicians were unable to distinguish it from a real piano.
