Bizarre creation: Renault 5 Turbo 6×6

The Renault 5 Turbo is and remains for many an icon, but only the biggest fans of the French brand will this particular 6×6 variant know.

Lovers of a brutal 6×6 car will usually come out in a Mercedes G-Class, but the Frenchman Christian de Leotard built in the eighties, single-handedly, an alternative. He opted for the Renault 5 as the basis for his striking scheurijzer and made a 6×6 where he is to be proud of.

The Leotard didn’t work in one version, but built a multiple variants. So took one of his Renault 5 6×6’s part in the Dakar Rally, while another had a Alpine-block under the hood and a Renault 5 Turbo engine in the trunk.

We have unfortunately bad news, because the twin-engined Renault 5 6×6 in 2003 destroyed during a large fire, while the Dakar version is tucked away in a museum in Cannes.
