Partly due to the tsunami of 0%-registrations in december, it is currently very quiet in some eco-friendly showrooms. Only a few brands offer resistance to the trend.

Now we are 7% instead of 0% tax liability to pay on our fuel-efficient plug-in hybrids to know all of a sudden a lot less people the way to the showroom to find. In extremis, this is the case with the Opel Ampera/Chevrolet Volt, and Toyota Prius PHEV. Over the first three months of 2014 (Q1) thereof, respectively, 8/0, and 11 copies on license plate. A nice contrast with the 1.225/11) and 1.410 pieces of the previous quarter.

This in itself is also not very strange: a plugin of 40-45.000 with 7% tax is slightly cheaper in terms of tax than a conventional diesel, with 14% additional tax liability. These are the leasetarieven much lower, and moreover, you don’t need difficult (moral) considerations to worry about/not loading etc.

Models that the downward trend is still pretty knew to resist were the hits of last years: the Outlander PHEV and the Volvo V60 PHEV. Mitsubishi claims even that there are now 10.000 Outlanders have been sold. Wondering what the 5 best-selling stekkerbakken of Q1 were?

Green 7 took this, and more, at a glance. Read it HERE.
