At CES 2016, which was held from 6 to 9 January in Las Vegas, TP-LINK has introduced the router under the name Talon AD7200. According to the manufacturer, the world’s first wireless router with support for the new Wi-Fi standard — 802.11 ad.
802.11 ad also known as WiGig. The 802.11 ad specification provides for the use of unlicensed frequency band of 60 GHz and support speeds up to 4.6 Gbps.
The router also uses the available frequencies in the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. As a result, he provides the total speed wireless connection up to 7200 Mbps: up to 800 Mbps on 2.4 GHz, up to 1733 Mbps on 5 GHz and up to 4600 MB/s at 60 GHz. In addition, it combines both the 802.11 ad and 802.11 ac MU-MIMO.
The router is equipped with eight antennas with amplifiers, Catarina Gigabit Ethernet ports and two USB 3.0 ports for storage drives. TP-LINK AD7200 Talon will go on sale in the second quarter of 2016.
