The second generation Twingo (2007-2014) had the heavy task of his very successful and long-term predecessor to follow. As stubborn as the first Twingo was, so conventional was the second.
The name Twingo is an amalgamation of the words “Twist”, “Swing” and “Tango”. This would, according to Renault, the playfulness and the fun of the car needs to be demonstrated. For the more standard versions, this seems to be an exaggerated statement, but Renault also came with a Gordini version including impressive racing stripes. At the end of 2011, the Twingo II gefacelift, but very large were the differences not.
Offer used cars
- On AutoScout24 are over 1200 second-hand copies of the Renault Twingo.
- Almost 13% has a diesel engine.
- Only 1.5% has an automatic gearbox.
- A whopping 80% of the offer has the 75 bhp 1.2 engine.
- A ten Twingo’s is red.
- Really luxury items such as sunroofs, navigation systems, parking sensors and leather trim are rare.
- Prices start just over 4,000 euros.
Pros
- Relatively reliable.
- Affordable.
Issues
- Electronic faults that may occur and spontaneously again proceed. It is (unfortunately) no specific weak spots to fix.
- When the diesels are fuel pumps and turbo’s are a weak spot.
- In 2009, there was a recall on the seats. A broken spring could the seat during the drive to slide around.
- Diesels are noisy.
- Plastic parts in the interior sometimes get loose and/or damaged.
- Fuelling is sometimes difficult. In some cases, it helps to replace the filler tube.
- The fuel gauge is not the most reliable.
