Water cannon deployed in Cologne

COLOGNE –

The German police Saturday afternoon in Cologne with a water cannon protesters of anti-islambeweging Pegida dispelled. Hundreds of supporters of Pegida and the far-right party Pro Köln argued there against the influx of refugees. The police made an end to the demonstration when the protesters were throwing bottles and firecrackers.

Except Pegida demonstrate other groups. So around 2500 people, mostly women, gathered to protest against racism and sexism.

The police in large numbers on the square in front of the Cologne central station. There are about 1700 agents in the leg.

Reason for the different demonstrations, the mass-assault on new year’s night. More than 170 women were at the station robbed, molested or even raped by a crowd of men, among whom were a large number of asylum seekers.
