The ancestor of the X6.
In 2001, BMW with one, sometimes striking concept. The design was particularly, but also the platform where the X-Coupe was positioned. The Chris Bangle-drawn German was based on the X5, while this might at first glance you would not say so.
The car was after the arrival of the Z3 Coupé was presented, but before the introduction of the Z4 Coupe. Some of the sharp lines of the Z4 you see in this X-Coupe. Nevertheless the concept very strange. The X5 is the car slightly higher positioned. This gives the X-Coupé is a weird view.
Bangle drew back with eye-catching designs. The most famous model is, of course, the E65 7-series with the typical ‘Bangle’ ass. A piece of daring design that I can best appreciate. Although concept cars are not always a beautiful appearance, are sometimes called the basisauto behind a beautiful future production model.
The X-Coupe concept was powered with a three litre turbo-diesel. A particular trick was the backbiting. This went on a separate way. The car is never taken in production. The model served as the basis of the sportier X models which BMW now sells.
