#CES | LG shows 18-inch collapsible OLED display

The company LG Display is going to present at the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas a prototype of a collapsible tube OLED display. Visitors to the show will feature the world’s first 18-inch display that can be rolled up like a newspaper, according to a press release from the manufacturer.

In OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) organic light-emitting diodes. Devices based on this technology are characterized by high clarity and color saturation of the image and a higher contrast compared to LCD counterparts.

Details about new foldable display will be revealed in the coming days. It is expected that one of the main applications of the device will be use as a extra screen for mobile devices such as smartphones.

Display technologies are often in the spotlight at CES. In 2010, Sprint and Skiff have demonstrated a prototype flexible display for use in devices for reading electronic books. And three years ago at the same event, LG Display introduced the world’s first 55-inch OLED TV.

According to the American Fox News channel, other new products, LG Display at CES 2016 will be 65 – and 77-inch OLED TVs ultra-high resolution (UHD), and a prototype 55-inch OLED TV panels as thick as a sheet of paper. The company will also show curved OLED displays a diagonal of 65 inches and the laptop-tablet with a diagonal of 11.6 inches.
