RIYADH –
Saudi Arabia has on Sunday announced diplomatic ties with Iran to disconnect it. The country attracts all the diplomats back from Iran and Iranian representatives 48 hours of the time given to do the same in Saudi Arabia.
The fracture is a reaction to the storming of the Saudi embassy in the Iranian capital Tehran Saturday evening. It founded a crowd of protesters fire in the building. The protest was a response to the execution of prominent shiite spiritual Nimr al-Nimr in Saudi Arabia.
There were already tensions between the predominantly sunni Saudi Arabia and shiite Iran, which earlier in the day still called for calm. President Hassan Rohani condemned both the execution as the storming, in which he promised the perpetrators to prosecute.
