1930 Bentley ‘Blue Train’ is a amazing classic

Cool. Low. Matte black. And British. But, in addition, is there a unique story behind the Bentley ‘Blue Train’, from a time that the upper echelons of society, a high hat wore.
Almost 85 years ago, in march of 1930, when Bernie Ecclestone is still a fetus in the belly of ma Ecclestone was – presented a number of wealthy men in the French resort town of Cannes playing. Joel Woolf “Babe” Barnato, one of the original Bentley Boys, was convinced that his Bentley Speed Six faster than the famous French Train Bleu. So convinced even that he is here to £ 100 to verwedde, a power at that time.
In what was a forerunner of Top Gear-the races (now switch to BBC 2 for the broadcast of today) he left the next day with Bentley at the same time with the blue train from Cannes, and was indeed generous to arrive earlier. While the train terminus in Calais reached (a tunnel to Dover would only be a year or 65 then be dug), it was Barnato long and wide with his Bentley on the other side of the channel in a private club in a Chesterfield chair to a cigar to lurken.
His action, however, remained not without consequences: the French buzzkill authorities presented him with a big penalty on account of racing on the public road, and Bentley was not welcome at the Paris motor Show that year.
This is beautiful story inspired not only Bentley in 2005 Arnage Blue Train (see gallery) on the market, but also a lover to make a replica of the recordauto: this low black monster is on a 1950 Bentley Mark VI chassis, and is only just completed. Under the hood is a 5.675 cc Bentley B80 eight-in-line, with four SU carburettors, good for 180 hp.
Inside is no less opulent, with red leather, velour, and a liquor bar. The Webasto sunroof is a modern touch on a sturdy, traditional appearance. In may of this year the Blue Train under the hammer on the well-known Amelia Island-veilingfeestje. Read more details and background at RM Auctions.

UPDATE: Bentley has made just known the original “Blue Train”, a 1930 Bentley 6½ Litre Speed Six with Gurney Utilisation bodywork, nemem to Rétromobile 2015. He added they are 3 beautiful photos.
