Renault Sport
Renault will back next year in Formula 1. The carmaker is known for his many years of experience in motorsport, but also to build straatlegale hot lead. How are those ambitions actually come from?

Renault Sport Technologies S. A. S, in brief, Renault Sport, is originated by a merger between the Alpine and Gordini in 1976. Only in 2002 was it a really a sub-brand of the ‘regular’ Renault models launched. A bit similar to the current DS line from Citroën. There were Renault models before 2002 also have a Renaultsport badge fitted. Confusing, we know. But now once French. In the late seventies and in the eighties posted Renault several important achievements in various branches of motorsport. In addition, the French car manufacturer under Équipe Renault Elf for eight years (1977-1985) active in the Formula 1. Later they took part as the Renault F1 team (2002-2010), and since 2011 under the name Lotus Renault GP. Some important milestones in the earlier years you will see below.

Renault Alpine

1978: Renault Alpine gets victory at the 24 hours of Le Mans.
1979: Renault is the first turbocharged engine for a F1 car
1981: The 1st place for the 5 Turbo on the Monte Carlo rally.
1989: Renault returns in the F1, but this time as motorleverancier

From ’95 went to Renault officially deal with the hot lead for the street, although the Clio Williams from 1993 though actually the taste was. It was march 2000 when the Clio 172, Renaultsport was placed on the market. This model was the beginning of the current RS line which Renault now employs. The Clio and the Megane are two models associated with each facelift under the hands be taken and an RS badge. The Clio 172 was a 2.0 litre on board with, as its name already reveals, 172 hp. The first RS model was a fact. Of this model, there are ultimately 172 units were built. Other hot Clio’s were the 16V, Williams and the special Clio V6 with rear-wheel drive.

Clio 172

Of the Clio RS, there are currently four generations appeared. The Megane RS two. The most fresh Clio RS is the 220 Trophy which earlier this year appeared. For the Megane RS is that the 275 Trophy-R. the latter is a well-known appearance on and around the Nordschleife. Thanks to a super-fast claimed time of 7:54,36 by Renault. The new Megane RS will probably be in 2017 will be unveiled, although there is recently a hotter version is introduced under the heading of 275 Cup S. Unfortunately this is not in the Netherlands, to order. Renault came in 2008, also with a Twingo RS (133 hp), but this was soon deaud explained. The rumors are since 2014, the French automaker with a big version will come for the rear-wheel drive third generation, but that is up to now not yet appeared.

Renault Sport is also known for the organization of various championships. Some examples are the Formula Renault, the Renault Clio Cup and Renault Eurocup, the Renault Maxi, and the Dacia Logan Cup. The French operate also in other raceseries, but do not do this under Renault Sport.
