Renault en Caterham doen geen Alpine samen
The new Alpine, max. 270 hp and ambitious Porsche Cayman-killer aspirations, no love child between Renault and Caterham.

In August 2012 began the geruchtenmachine around this particular joint venture to turn, not much later, these were confirmed. Unfortunately, the announced sports car with blown four-cylinder reeks of dead sparrow. The cooperation between the two, affectionately known as Societe des Automobiles Alpine Caterham (SAAC), seems like an early death to die.

The two brands have combined their forces to give you lightweight two-seater sports cars a-la 4C in store, under the banner of both Alpine as Caterham. Renault suggested 300 workers at the Alpine factory in the French Dieppe available, but according to Autocar it did not work.

Not to worry, yet both appear to be cars there in 2016 (a bit of delay is not excluded) is still yet to come, but it is now no longer sure whether or not the two also have the same technique. What was previously the plan was. Renault took aim at a 1100 kg heavy car with at least 250 hp. Caterham does that too, but with 50 hp more.

The relationship between the two companies was already under tension, because Renault decided the project to defer to the soon to be Porschevreter slightly to be able to redesign.

Would be a pity, however, that first impressions see, after all, really not wrong. But yes, the French and the British who work together…

Update 25-03: Automotive News reports that Renault completely self wants to do, and tomorrow is the break-up with Caterham to its employees will communicate.
