Polish president signs controversial law

WARSAW –

The president of Poland has a controversial law signed that the power and independence of the Constitutional Court indamt.

The law comes from the barrel of the party PiS, which since October to power in Poland. By the law, the Constitutional Court is no longer as supervisory body of the government.

Troubled Poland went earlier this month flocking to the streets to protest against the measure, the opposition is seen as a seizure of power by PiS. Also the European Commission expressed concerns about the law and warned of an erosion of the rule of law.
