The dam in the Euphrates river with air support from American and other foreign aircraft on Saturday in the hands of the cases of Kurdish and Arab fighters, reported a spokesman of the Democratic Forces of Syria, colonel Talal Selo.

It is a sensitive loss for the sunni extremists of IS. They have their headquarters downstream in Raqqa, approximately 80 kilometers southeast of the Tishreen dam. That is also a major road link between the banks of the river and, from Raqqa seen, access to the north-west of Syria.
