The outgoing year both literally and figuratively was the year of hoverboards. However, only on paper and in the memories of many favorite movie “Back to the future”. However, two companies in the world decided to set a goal and create at least a semblance of flying boards. These companies were Lexus, who showed his Slide Board and the company Arx Pax, which presented the second generation Hendo Hoverboard. Now they were joined by the company ArcaSpace, which showed his version of sweep the Board.

ArcaSpace is a private space company. In 2004, among 26 other teams, she participated in the competition Ansari X Prize (task: within two weeks to make two sub-orbital space flight on developed reusable spacecraft). In 2013 ArcaSpace took part in the Lunar X Prize. In the same year the company introduced ArcaBoard — floating Board with lift fan propulsion system that can lift man above the earth at a height of 30 centimeters.

The power plant ArcaBoard generates 430 pounds of thrust and consists of 36 electric fans. The company also noted that the Board built a kind of technology of self-balance, making the flight smoother. However, the management Board is hardly controllable. Released on video test flight conducts Dumitru Popescu, Executive Director of the company ArcaSpace, and frankly, it seems that the only thing the person does is tries not to fall off the Board.

In fairness it should be noted that the management boards Slide from Lexus and the Hendo Hoverboard is also far from ideal. However, all three boards are really soar.

Judging from what is written on the official website of the company, plans she has, shall we say, “Napoleonic”.

“For the first time since the invention of the Bicycle, the automobile and airplane, ArcaBoard is a revolutionary breakthrough in the development of vehicles”, — stated on the website.

“For the first time, anyone can realize their dream of flying anytime and anywhere”.

All this would be true if it weren’t for the price of the Board, which amounts to as much as 19 900$. If we consider the project ArcaSpace as the underlying implementation technology of the flying boards, the company really has advanced further than the same Lexus and Arx Pax. Unlike the latter, the Board ArcaBoard do not require special magnetic pads to hover above the surface. But all this does not look like the hoverboards that we could see in the cult film “Back to the future”.
