Apple will give Ericsson a share with sales of the iPhone and iPad

The company Ericsson announced signing with Apple patent agreement on cross-licensing of seven years. The agreement will allow Apple to make use of patented technologies which are utilized in the communication standards GSM, UMTS and LTE, without claims from Ericsson, and all litigation between the companies are considered to be settled.

Apple will have to give Ericsson an initial payment and then pay royalties on an ongoing basis. According to Reuters, royalties can be of the order of 0.5% of the profits from the sales of the iPhone and iPad.

In addition, the license agreement provides for cooperation on the development of the future 5G communication standard, management videotraffic in networks and optimization of wireless networks.
