Approximately 130 forest fires in northern Spain

OVIEDO –

About one hundred forest fires raging in the region of Asturias in the northwest of Spain. The strong winds and the high temperatures make it difficult to fight the fire, according to the newspaper El País on Sunday.

According to the authorities, there are no injuries cases. However, several families evacuated in Cangas de Narcea, and El Franco, in the western part of Asturias. The heavy smoke from the forest fires made it necessary for the highway and the railway between Asturias and the neighbouring region of Galicia for a period of four hours to close.

In the region of Cantabria, west of Asturias, the rage about thirty forest fires.
